Green Beer: It's Origin, History, & A Simple Recipe

Although green beer has become a staple in celebrating St. Patrick's day it is actually not an Irish tradition. It is an American production that surfaced sometime in the early 1910's. Professor Thomas H. Curtain is often credited as the first person to present green beer, however, his edition is not the first to be recorded. The first credited account of the frothy green drink was featured by the Spokane Press in 1910. The article claimed the First Avenue Bar served the beverage in all it's green glory to proud Irishmen and anyone else who dared to taste the drink.

The early stages of green beer were most likely pretty unhealthy for a person to consume. The dye used to color the beer was also used to color clothing. Cupture's simple rendition, shown off in this perfectly sized tumbler, is completely harmless (unless copious amounts are consumed)! Best of all, once the lid is securely on, there's no green spills or stains to clean up!
